In S. G.
Iron the graphite is in the form of spheroids
or nodules. The dicontinuities caused by graphite
flakes in grey iron are thus eliminated and the resultant
material has greatly improved properties, including
high impact strengh. There is no practical limit to
the size and nature of castings made from S. G. Iron.
S. G. Iron Castings can thus replace steel forgings,
steel castings, fabricated steel assemblies, malleable
iron castings and somtimes non-ferrous castings with
distinct economic and technical advantages.
Alloy S. G. Irons which are alloyed with elements
like Nickel, Molybdenum, Copper etc. find increasing
use in sophisticated applications and are more
economic and better performing than equivalent alloy
steel forgings and castings. |
